Henry Hugglemonster is a CG animated series for pre-schoolers about five year old Henry Hugglemonster and his loving and rambunctious monster family. Brown Bag Films developed the series from the book “I’m A Happy Hugglewug” created by award-winning Irish author and illustrator and Ireland’s Children’s Literature Laureate, Niamh Sharkey, published by Walker Books.
Each 11 minute episode transports preschoolers into the world of Henry Hugglemonster as he guides the audience through the ups and downs of being part of a loving, bustling monster family. The series is directed by Emmy Award winning director Norton Virgien (Rugrats, Doc McStuffins), the Story Editor is Robert Vargas (Zack and Quack) and the series is produced by Colm Tyrrell and Gillian Higgins (Doc McStuffins, Octonauts).
The series has featured a stellar guest-voice cast including Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, and award-winning actors Brenda Blethyn, and Brian Blessed. The recurring voice cast also includes Lara Jill Miller, Tom Kenny, Chiara Zanni, Lori Alan, Hynden Walch, and Kari Wahlgren.
The series received an IFTA nomination in 2014 and an Irish Design Award in the CG Animation category in 2016. The Henry Hugglemonster toys, created by Golden Bear, were revealed at the 2014 Toy Fair, at which Henry’s Roarsome Scooter and Summer’s Super Scooter were awarded the Best New Toy in the Preschool Character Category.
Henry Hugglemonster premiered on Disney Junior UK on February 8, 2013 and has been broadcast on 140 Disney Junior channels throughout the world. The series is available to stream on Disney+.
